Second party petitions broadcasting authority
Belgrade, March 26, 2012 (B92, Tanjug) - The opposition SNS party has sent a petition to the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) because of unequal treatment of parties in the election campaign.
The ruling Democratic Party (DS) is privileged and gets significantly more time than others in news broadcasts on national TV stations, the SNS stated in its petition, delivered to the media.
The DS leader, Boris Tadić, is taking advantage of his position as Serbian president, in order to provide his aprty with privileges from the media, the SNS remarked.
"Boris Tadić is touring Serbia as president during the election campaign, but his appearances are as the leader of the candidate list for the election. The media are treating his appearances as those of the president of the republic, although they serve purely propaganda purposes to promote the DS and the 'Choice for a Better Life - Boris Tadić' list of candidates," the SNS said.
The government ministers who are also on the DS list behave similarly, the SNS added.
A similar complaint was lodged last week by Mlađan Dinkić's United Regions of Serbia (URS).
