DODIK ATTACKS BETA JOURNALIST AGAIN

Belgrade, June 8, 2012 (Politika) - President of the Republic of Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodic accused yesterday the Beta correspondent from Banjaluka Ljiljana Kovacevic of being a member of an organized group that was using journalistic profession to "destroy" and which was dealing with the "the most adominable criminalizing" of the president of Republic of Srpska and his associates, Beta news agency reported.

In the letter from Dodik's cabinet addressed to the Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) and Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS), the Beta journalist is criticized, in an aggressive wording, for communicating lies, false constructions and fabrication of information. It is also claimed in the letter that the journalist was "abusing journalistic profession" with "dishonorable intentions".

NUNS: public harassment

Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) stated yesterday that the letter from the cabinet of the RS President addressed to media associations was the continuation of insulting rethoric with which he was dealing with the Beta journalist Ljiljana Kovacevic, said Beta. NUNS also pointed out that it could not have understood differently the statement that "Ljiljana Kovacevic was practicing journalism the least although she had obviously been falsly calling herself a journalist for years".

UNS: Uncivilized behavior

Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) expressed its shock yesterday that the cabinet of the RS president had used the invitation for apology to address new grave accusations to Beta journalist, as well as speculations about her alleged "intentions" and political goals. UNS stated that such behavior was unacceptable and represented additional attack on the integrity of Ljiljana Kovacevic.
