RETIRED JOURNALIST DEAD AFTER PHYSICAL ATTACK
Belgrade, October 16, 2012 (Politika) - Ljubomir Kucic (82), former long-time Tanjug journalist, suffered the injuries yesterday morning after being bashed near the newspaper stand in New Belgrade by N.B. (20).
The police soon arrested the attacker at the crime scene over the suspicion of comitting a serious crime of murder.
According to some information, N.B. passed by the bench near the news stand where Kucic was sitting, asked for money and then violently attacked the journalist, hitting and kicking him several times on the head and body, running away after that, only to return couple of hours later, when police arrested him.
The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) issued the statement yesterday expressing their shock over the murder of the retired journalist and member of the Association since 1958.
Kucic was long-time Tanjug correspondent from Berlin and deputy director of the Agency's International Press Center.
