Press Media Summit opens in Belgrade on Wednesday
Belgrade, October 31, 2012 (Tanjug) - The third Press Media Summit will be staged in Belgrade's Metropol Hotel on Wednesday and it will gather all the regional media leaders with a view to exchanging opinions and stands on the aspects of cooperation enhancement and reviewing the joint future of the press.
This year's summit will deal with regional information systems and cross-border cooperation of the media.
According to a release issued by the summit organisers, around 200 guests from the region, EU officials and representatives of the European Press Federation should reach an agreement on key guidelines for the future development of the publishing industry.
The participants at the summit will be addressed by President of the Media Association of Serbia and chief editor of the Belgrade-based daily Blic Veselin Simonovic, chief editor of the Vreme weekly Dragoljub Zarkovic, chief editor of Vecernje Novosti daily Manojlo Vukotic, editor-in-chief of the Zagreb-based daily Jutarnji List Mladen Plese, chief editor of the Skopje-based daily Nova Makedonija Zoran Dimitrovski and chief editor of the Sarajevo-based daily Dnevni Avaz Fadil Mandal.
The summit should also be addressed by heads of the biggest media in the region, Director of the Ringier Axel Springer Jelena Petrovic, Director of Adria Media Alexander Teutsch, Director of the Ljubljana-based daily Delo Jurij Giacomelli and head of the Podgorica-based daily Vjesti Zeljko Ivanovic.
In addition to representatives of publishing industry in Serbia, EU and the region, officials of various industries and international organisations should discuss regional information systems and regional consolidation.
According to announcements, the summit should also include a panel entitled 'Tabloids' which would gather representatives of tabloids from the region.
