LOAN SHUTS DOWN TV 5 FROM NIS
Why has the popular television "TV 5" stopped broadcasting?
Nis, November 13. 2012. (Politika) - TV 5, one of the most popular local televisions from Nis, has been shut down.
TV 5 was established in 1994 as the first private television station in Nis. It was shut down by the RBA decision from mid August since this station had not paid the fee for the frequency in the previous three years. The debt is worth millions.
This television applied for national frequency four years ago. Four that purpose management raised € 700,000 loan for the purchase of equipment and transmitters while they planned to build the facility for television. The license is not granted and the explanation was that Olivera Nedeljkovic, who is suspected of economic crime, had ownership capital in the television. The half of the loan has been returned and the rest has been not, which caused the great financial difficulties.
Problems, which journalists and employees have not caused, has never been solved. Owners have not been very interested in improving the situation, and the incompetence and irresponsibility of the management contributed to that.
The financial details were presented at the last staff meeting. Specifically, the television recently received the bank bill for payment of the debt to "Trebic MM" from Soko Banja in the amount of 1.3 million EUR. TV 5 was guarantee for the loan that the company from Sokobanja raised in 2006. It is not clear who is in charge for appointing TV 5 as a guarantor for that loan.
