Zepter boss wins damages suit

BELGRADE, August 4, 2004 (Glas Javnosti) – The First Municipal Court in Belgrade has upheld an earlier ruling ordering Belgrade publisher Vesti Dana to pay damages of 80,000 dinars (about 1,100 euros), together with costs of 39,400 dinars, to Serbian businessman Milan Jankovic, also known as Filip Cepter. The court however dismissed a demand by Jankovic for compensation of 920,000 dinars. Also dismissed was Jankovic’s demand for a court order prohibiting Vesti from publishing statements damaging to his reputation with an accompanying order of a million dollar fine for violating this. Jankovic is founder and proprietor of Zepter International, a lifestyle company specialising in direct sale of luxury products.
