Journalist conviction overturned

NOVI SAD, September 22, 2004 (Beta) –The Novi Sad District Court has overturned a judgement against journalist Marija Males. Males had been ordered to pay damages of 100,000 dinars (about 1,300 euros) to local official Dusko Radosavljevic for causing mental grief. Radosavljevic took legal action against the journalist following publication of an article in Belgrade daily Danas on May 25 this year under the headline “One against another, all with Djindjic”. In the article Males wrote that Radosavljevic had lobbied other political parties and foreign embassies to support his nomination as leader of the Vojvodina Reformists. Males said after today’s ruling that she was happy that justice had been served.
