Journalist barred from press conference

NOVI PAZAR, October 4, 2004 (B92) – Journalist Ivana Milic was today barred from attending a press conference given by the newly elected mayor of Novi Pazar, Sulejman Ugljanin. Before the conference began, one of Ugljanin’s security guards curtly informed Milic, who is a staffer for TV Jedinstvo and the local correspondent for B92, that he had been given instructions not to admit her. Only a cameraman was permitted inside the room to record the conference. TV Jedinstvo has issued a statement demanding an explanation. If one is not forthcoming, says the station, it will no longer cover press conferences or any other activities of Ugljanin’s List for Sandzak party.
