JOURNALIST SUED JOVANOVIC

BELGRADE, February 19, 2005 – Daily Kurir journalist Jovica Krtinic has filed a legal complaint to the First Municipal Council in Belgrade, against former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Cedomir Jovanovic and his lawyer Radivoj Paunovic for libel. Legal office of Djordje Dozet has issued the statement, saying that Jovanovic and Paunovic had libeled the journalist while talking to the print and electronic media during the past few days. Krtinic was cited as filing the complaint due to “protection of personal integrity and image of journalism as profession, believing that in this country all people are equal in the in the eyes of law.” Former Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Center for Modern Politics has issued a number of statements in the past few weeks, accusing Krtinic for writing under instructions of Security Intelligence Service.
