JOURNALIST STOJAN CEROVIC BURIED

BELGRADE, March 28, 2005 – Family members, friends, colleagues and state high officials gathered yesterday at New Cemetery in Belgrade to pay respect to the deceased journalist, chairman of the Managing Board and one of the founders of weekly “Vreme”, Stojan Cerovic. Cerovic died on March 21 in Paris after acute illness. He was born in 1949 in Podgorica, graduated in Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, MA in clinical psychology. Cerovic was known for his anti-war activities; his articles labeled the profession on the territory of former Yugoslavia and the part of the public opposing the regime of Slobodan Milosevic. “Stojan Cerovic’s articles have no evil, aggression and any ulterior motives whatsoever”, said the Serbian president Boris Tadic, in his commemorative speech in front of the chapel at the New Cemetery. “Cerovic personified integrity, morality and honesty”, said the president. Aside members of the family, spouse Tinda Cerovic and their three children, present at the funeral were also the speaker of the Serbian Parliament Predrag Markovic, Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic, former ministers Aleksandar Vlahovic, Bozidar Djelic and Goran Svilanovic, as well as Kori Udovicki, Dejan Mijas, Branko Cvejic, Branko Baletic and others.
