Popovic criticised in US report
BELGRADE, March 3, 2004 – The US state department has noted incidents of concern during the state of emergency following the murder of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic. In its regular assessment report, the state department named in particular then government communications chief Vladimir “Beba” Popovic in the context of political pressure exerted on the media. The Serbian judiciary is also liable to political pressure, while its poor cooperation with the other branches of power has slowed reform, the report adds.
